Lord Buddha, the enlightened one and the founder of Buddhism, respected and followed by millions of people in the present world. Lord Buddha, after attaining Enlightenment in Bodh Gaya, started preaching the knowledge that he has acquired through the meditation and achievement of Nirvana i.e. ultimate knowledge. The teachings of Buddha leads thousands of monks, and ascetics who desired to find the ultimate knowledge of life, birth, death and rebirth. According to history of Lord Buddha, Young Prince Siddhartha who was born in the royal kingdom of Kapilvastu, Lumbini in Nepal, through sheer hardships and meditation achieve Nirvana and gained all knowledge regarding birth, life, old age, death, and rebirth.

The knowledge found 2600 years ago, became the foundation of one of the most followed religion of present world i.e. Buddhism. Buddhism became the core religion of many Asian countries such as Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Japan, Tibet, etc. Buddhist art, are one of the important mediums that delivers the message of teachings of Buddha all over the world. In present, western culture have started to accept the knowledge of Buddhism and many of them are practicing traditional methods of Buddhism i.e. meditation hearing the Buddhist sutras, chanting Buddhist sutras etc.

During the death of Buddha, i.e. when Lord Gautama Buddha achieved Parinirvana, he taught important teachings to all Buddhist monks. Some of Lord Buddha quotes are:

"Donot Learn Dharma For Buddha, Learn Dharma For Yourself"

"Do not Dwell in the past; do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment."

He also mentioned that not to refer Lord Buddha as the deity but source of inspiration to find the ultimate truth through one's efforts. But in order to show respect to Lord Buddha and his teachings, Buddha statues are made as the representation of Lord Buddha and his life as well as Buddhist teachings. Myanmar Buddhist art are quite famous all over the world for their superior and artistic architectures of Buddhist sculptures. Burmese Lacquerware are quite famous in Myamar for making beautiful and artistic Buddha statues, and Buddhist sculptures. Thangka Paintings, Buddha images, Andagu stone carvings are important Buddhist sculptures that are considered quite important in every Buddhist countries i.e. Burma, Thailand, Korea, Tibet, Nepal, China etc.
